The flaw stems from a single shared authentication key — directly readable from the KARR mobile app’s code — meaning that any attacker within Bluetooth range of a KARR-equipped vehicle can take over the device and unlock the doors. The bug does not allow remote engine start, but it completely bypasses the anti-theft system: once the doors are open, everything inside the cabin — including the ability to access the vehicle’s onboard systems — is exposed. Google Maps rolls out immersive 3D navigation and detailed route alternatives. Google is pushing what it calls the biggest Google Maps update of the year, starting with a substantial visual overhaul of the in-car navigation experience. The new 3D mode renders buildings with translucency so the route ahead remains visible, adds translucent bridges, individual trees, and a more faithful representation of the surrounding environment. On top of the visual layer, the Maps team is shipping a deeper alternative-routes analyser that surfaces the downstream impact of each option before the driver commits — toll charges, congestion levels, and the resulting ETA delta — rather than the current behaviour of simply listing each path. The 3D toggle lives in the app’s display settings on the phone; once enabled, immersive navigation flows automatically into Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, with Android Automotive integration on the roadmap.
